"I wanted to write to you and all of the women and men who have participated in this project. Last week I went to court to put my rapist away. The night before I could not sleep at all. I stayed up all night going through every single picture and memorizing the words, and faces they portrayed. When I walked into that court room and was face to face with my abuser, my ex boyfriend, and my rapist I wanted to shrink away and hide. But I didn’t. I told the judge exactly what he did to me and exactly how it affected my life. He got four years. Although it was not as long as we all would have liked, it is something. And it would have been even less if I did not have the strength from everyone who has participated in this. Whenever it gets hard, I want everyone to know that they are helping people, near and far, by standing up and breaking the silence!"
